ABOUT the ARTIST
Alison Shull once wrote a brief poem
painting the imaginary
translating invisible into visible
photographing what is real
inviting imagination
about the complementary activities of painting what’s in her “mind’s eye” and employing photography as a way to spark imagination in other people’s minds. Look closely or long enough or listen to the first or last thought that comes to mind when viewing her art and you may interpret elements of social commentary. But mostly she intends for her art to deliver what we can always use a little more of-
moments of hope, wonder, awe and humor.
